Detailed Design Services

Detailed Design Services may include:

  • Preparation of Engineering Documents
  • Preparation of bill of quantities
  • Preparation of documents in support of applications for approval from authorities having jurisdiction for the Project or designated specific aspects of the Project
  • Submission of Engineering Documents for review and approval by Client
  • Preparation and submission of Construction Contract Documents for review and approval by the Client (where the Engineer is the lead professional)
  • Review of Construction Contract Documents prepared by others

Preliminary Design Services

Preliminary Design Services may include:

  • Obtaining advice and information from any Consultants of the Client to carry out duties and responsibilities
  • Preparation of   preliminary design   including drawings or   sketches illustrating and defining the design concept
  • Preparation of specification outlines
  • Preparation   of   preliminary   design   report   covering   alternatives, preliminary sketches, and outline specifications
  • Preparation of documents in support of applications for approval from authorities having jurisdiction regarding the Project or designated specific aspects of the Project
  • Submission of preliminary design report for review and approval by Client

Conceptual Design Services

Conceptual Design Services may include:

  • Review of the statement of requirements provided by the Client
  • Analysis of information provided by the Client, including:
    • Conditions or methods of operations
    • technical and economic feasibility
    • location of the Project, and
    • similar matters
  • Establish the sizes, capacity, location, method of operation and other principal features which form the basis for the design of a proposed Project
  • Analysis of expert and specialist studies prepared in support of theConceptual Design Service
  • Evaluation of alternatives
  • Preparation of concept sketches and developing specification notes
  • Preparation of a Project brief outlining the relevant criteria to be followed in preliminary and detailed design Services
  • Submission of conceptual design and Project brief for review and approval by Client

Engineering Project Services

Engineering Project Services may include:

  • Preparation of an engineering and Project implementation program based upon:
    • the Client’s written instructions regarding the Project requirements,
    • the Client’s Project Budget, and
    • the Client’s time constraints
  • Preparation of a statement of requirements and Project design criteria to be used in the design process
  • Coordination of Consultants of the Client (where the Engineer is the lead professional)
  • Participation in or preparation of specified Project feasibility studies
  • Arrangement for expert and specialist studies for use in conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design services
  • Preparation of and/or participation in environmental assessments and impact studies
  • Review of environmental assessments and impact studies prepared by others
  • Assistance in obtaining approvals of authorities having jurisdiction over the Project

Consulting and Advisory Services

Consulting and Advisory Services may include:

  • Preparation for and/or attendance at a public participation or information program
  • Preparation for and/or participation in a value engineering program
  • Preparation of reports relating to the Client’s long-range plans
  • Provision of renderings
  • Provision of models
  • Technical representation at meetings
  • Preparation of specified alternative designs
  • Calculation of quantities of Work to be performed
  • Assistance in obtaining required approvals, licenses and permits from governmental authorities having jurisdiction over the Project
  • Arrangement for special testing of the Work
  • Investigation of specified conditions (such as failures, accidents, groundwater and drainage issues, stability, etc)

Construction Procurement Services

Construction Procurement Services may include:

  • Advice regarding:
    • The preparation of requests for proposals, requests for qualifications and tender information
    • Bid forms
  • Assistance in the preparation of pre-qualification documents for procurement tenders or proposals
  • Assistance in the preparation of tender documents incorporating relevant Engineering Documents, Construction Contract Documents and other documents prepared by Consultants of the Client on the Project
  • Assistance in obtaining bids
  • Assistance in the preparation of addenda
  • Review of bids
  • Assistance in the preparation of the Construction Contract

Construction Administration Services

Construction Administration Services may include:

  • Periodic visits to the Place of the Work for general conformance
  • Attendance at meetings necessary to the coordination of the design, Construction Administration Services, and execution of the Work
  • Preparation and distribution of Notices of change, change orders, and other necessary Project documentation during the course of the execution of the Work (where the Engineer is the lead professional)
  • Obtain advice, data, and information from Consultants of the Client when required
  • Review   of   Shop   Drawings
  • Monitor compliance with the program of construction reviews and testing which may be required by the Engineer or imposed by law in connection with the execution of the Work by the Contractor
  • Interpretation of the Construction Contract Documents (where the Engineer is the lead professional and if so provided in the Construction Contract)
  • Evaluation of Contractor’s applications for payment
  • Certification of the Contractor’s applications for payment (where the Engineer is the lead professional)
  • Review of an application for Substantial Performance of the Work noting defects and deficiencies observed in the Work
  • Certification of the Contractor’s Substantial Performance of the Work (where the Engineer is the lead professional)
  • Review of the correction of defects and deficiencies observed in the Work when completed

Construction Contract Resident Services

Construction Contract Resident Services may include:

  • Arranging for reference surveys for use in the Contractor’s layout of the Work (not including surveys of legal property boundaries)
  • Review of Contractor’s surveys and layout
  • Regular site reviews of the Work of the Contractor to ascertain if the reviewed Work is in general conformance with the Construction Documents
  • Arrangement of field-testing and inspection of materials and equipment for Client’s quality assurance program
  • Investigation, reporting, and providing recommendations on unusual circumstances that arise during the Project implementation
  • Maintenance of sufficient data to outline current progress of the Work
  • Final inspection at the conclusion of the Project Construction Contract, including any elements of commissioning agreed to as part of the Client’s acceptance program

Post Construction Engineering Services

Post Construction Services may include:

  • Provision of commissioning and start-up assistance
  • Collection and organization of operating and maintenance manuals
  • Identification of deficiencies during the warranty period at the Client’s request
  • Assistance in facility management or operations after commissioning and start-up
  • Preparation of record documents

  • Post Construction Engineering Services

    Post Construction Services may include:

    • Provision of commissioning and start-up assistance
